Our engineering team has implemented a fix for the earlier connectivity issue we saw between Square’s Contactless + Chip Reader and Apple iOS 14. We recommend updating the Square Point of Sale app to version 6.8.2 to resolve this issue.

Our engineering teams are continuing to work on a fix for the issue impacting the Contactless + Chip Reader's connection to the Square Point of Sale app for sellers using Apple devices running iOS version 14.

We've identified an issue impacting the Contactless + Chip Reader's connection to the Square Point of Sale app for sellers using Apple devices running iOS version 14.

Upon attempting to connect the reader, sellers will see the error "Please update the Square app". As a workaround, we recommend that impacted sellers update their devices if an iOS update is available.

Investigating
We are currently experiencing a disruption that is impacting the Contactless + Chip Reader's connection to the Square Point of Sale app. On iOS devices in app version 6.8, the error message, "Please update the Square app" pops up, preventing Sellers from connecting readers to their devices through the app.
